Corn, a staple in countries all over the world is a loved meal and can also be termed a snack, all depending on how you have prepared it.
On the 28th of June 2025, Tourvant, a travel and tourism consultancy headquartered in Lagos organised the 6th edition of the annual Agbado – Corn Festival which is formerly known as Naija Corn Festival. The change of name is informed by the desire to be culturally and locally relevant to the Nigerian community, this indigenous name will showcase a cultural identity to its own people and be a flag bearer to connect with other cultures.
The event kicked off with opening prayers and the national anthem , shortly after, the Agri partner for the event, Olaoluwa Bamigboye, the founder of Heirs and Heralds, an agri based business in Lagos state took the opening address. This years event was graced by the presence of the Permananet Secretary Lagos stae ministry of Agriculture and food systems Lagos- Mr Emmanuel Fatai Audu , Mrs Omoyele – Coordinator Lagos Agrininovation club and other stake holders.
The event was masked by a lot of camaradrire, friendships, family and community in full swing with frineds meeting up at the event, re unions and everyone having a really great time. Food vendors set up with their own delicacies, competitions for the childrena dn adults alike. The corn eating challenge with particiants racing each other to finish the cobs first, art competitiona nd the centre piece the cookign competition which got everyone uber excited and yelling at the top of the lungs to support their favourite.
The event finished on a high note with attendees already anticipating for the next big event.
